The Hen Egg, created in 1885, was the first egg created that began the tradition of the Imperial Easter Eggs. The Hen egg is roughly the same size as a real egg. The white outer egg opens to reveal a gold yolk, which in turn, opens to reveal a tiny golden Hen with ruby eyes. Inside the egg was another surprise - a mini replica of the Imperial Crown, however this mini crown is now lost.
This cross stitch design was inspired by the elements of the Imperial Hen Egg, featuring golden colours, and it also includes small representations of the missing imperial crown surprise in each corner.
This pincushion cross stitch kit includes: 14HPI white aida fabric, ready-sorted DMC Stranded Cotton threads on a card sorter, needle, backing fabric, b&w symbol chart and instructions.
THIS KIT ALSO INCLUDES A SMALL BAG OF FILLER FOR COMPLETING THE PINCUSHION.
