Part of the Famous Faces Collection
Florence Nightingale was born in 1820 and is most famously recognised as the founder of modern nursing. She came to prominence while serving as a manager and trainer of nurses during the Crimean War, in which she organised the care of wounded soldiers, and was known for her night rounds to aid the wounded which established her image as the 'Lady with the Lamp.'
This design features lamp motifs as well as the ribbon colours of the International Nightingale Medal, named in her honour, which is awarded to those distinguished in the nursing field.
