One of the three magnificent coffins that made up part of the tomb of Tutankhamun, the Egyptian boy King, takes centre stage in this design. Above him is the sun God Aton, depicted by a solar disc emitting rays which is being worshipped on either side by the King's father, Akhanaten, and step-mother Nefertiti. The patterns edging the design were taken from those featured on the sides of the coffins and the scarab beetle motifs represent the scarab jewels found within the tomb.
