The Imperial Swan Egg was created in 1906 under the supervision of Peter Carl Fabergé and was given by Czar Nicholas II of Russia to his wife Alexandra Feodorovna. The mauve enamel egg contains a miniature lake composed of a large aquamarine richly decorated with water lilies in four shades of gold, upon which rests a platinum Swan. The Swan is clockwork and when wound it arches its neck and spreads its wings. It is these poses of the Swan that have been re-created in this mini cushion design, surrounded by shades of aquamarine and water lilies set against a mauve base.
Only whole cross stitch is required, with a little backstitch detail on the wings.
This mini cushion cross stitch kit includes: 14HPI white aida fabric, ready-sorted DMC Stranded Cotton threads on a card sorter, needle, backing fabric, b&w symbol chart and full instructions (cushion filler not included).
Design size: 5¾" (14.7cm) square.
