Barge Ware, also known as Canal Ware, is a style of folk art used to decorate practical and ornamental objects used on Narrowboats/Barges. The designs regularly feature Roses and these are painted with fairly loose strokes of the brush onto items such as coal hods (for use loading fuel stoves), buckets, watering cans and teapots, and also on the Canal boats/Narrowboats themselves. The colour palette used for this style of painting mainly consists of a small range of colours to include red, blue, green, yellow and black. Incidental colours of pink, brown and white also feature.
This mini cushion has been created with that fairly limited palette of colours (15 colours feature in total), and creates a bright and vibrant design in the style of this folk art.
This mini cushion cross stitch kit includes: 14HPI white aida fabric, ready-sorted DMC Stranded Cotton threads on a card sorter, needle, backing fabric, b&w symbol chart and instructions (cushion filler not included).
