The Imperial Mosaic Egg was made under the supervision of Peter Carl Fabergé in 1914 for Russian Tsar Nicholas II, who presented it to his wife, the Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, as an Easter gift. It was made from a platinum mesh encrusted with myriad jewels and designed to resemble petit-point embroidery.
This mini cushion cross stitch design was inspired by the Mosaic Egg and is itself full of bright jewel colours. Areas of the design representing the mesh in which the jewels sit are left unstitched to add some texture to the piece.
This mini cushion cross stitch kit includes: 14HPI white aida fabric, ready-sorted DMC stranded cotton threads on a card sorter, needle, backing fabric, b&w symbol chart and instructions (cushion filler not included).
Design size: 5¾" (14.7cm) square.
